Going Live: A Year of Twitch and Content Creation

A year of going live on Twitch and creating content across YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok taught me more than I expected — and not all of it was about the content itself.
The biggest surprise: consistency beats talent. The people who grow aren't always the most skilled; they're the ones who keep showing up. Showing up live when nobody's watching, posting when you're tired, making the next thing even when the last one flopped.
The second lesson: your community is the product. The streams and videos are just the excuse. The real thing being built is a group of people who like hanging out together. Protect that.
The third: small towns and the internet are a great combination. I get to live in Bishop and talk to people all over the world every week. That still amazes me.
If you've been thinking about creating something, my advice is the same as it was for streaming: start. A year from now you'll be glad you didn't wait another year.
