Why I Started Streaming on Twitch

I've been around gaming communities since the Minecraft server days, so streaming on Twitch felt less like a new thing and more like a natural next step. I just finally decided to do it in public.
The honest reason I started: I wanted to share the stuff I already love — gaming, building things, and the Eastern Sierra — with people in real time, instead of just talking about it later. There's a different energy to being live. You can't edit it. It's just you.
I also wanted a creative outlet that wasn't work. Title work is precise and serious. Streaming is loose and fun. Having both keeps me balanced.
If you've ever thought about going live, here's my advice: just start. Your first stream will be awkward. Mine was. But the only way to get comfortable on camera is to spend time on camera. Come say hi next time I'm live — I'd love to meet you.
