Fishing Lake Sabrina: My Favorite Eastern Sierra Morning Ritual

If you want to find me before work, there's a good chance I'm at Lake Sabrina. There's something about being on the water as the sun comes up over the Sierra that puts everything else in perspective.

The morning ritual is simple: early start, coffee in the truck, and a few quiet hours on the water before the world wakes up. Some days the fish cooperate, some days they don't — and honestly, that's not really the point.

Fishing taught me patience, which is handy when you spend your days reading hundred-year-old deed records. You cast, you wait, you try again. You don't force it.

If you're ever up this way, do yourself a favor and spend a morning at Lake Sabrina, North Lake, or the Owens River. The fish are a bonus. The quiet is the real catch.
